“I’m Woody. Howdy, howdy, howdy!” Oh wait, this isn’t Toy Story? Oh right, they say that at A&M, too. I almost forgot (except not). No student (or visitor, for that matter) could ever forget that “howdy” is the go-to greeting on-campus. In other, totally related news, let’s talk about food–smoothies!
For weeks now, Zach and I have passed by Northgate Juice Joint on our way to the dog park and have taken our turns in saying “we should try that place sometime.” Well, after several, several times of saying that, we finally tried it!
We went for dinner today and woah, was it good! To make this place even better, they use locally-sourced ingredients; whether they’re from Howdy Farm or from their own garden out back, fresh ingredients are only a short walk away. Tonight, Zach got a Reveille smoothie and I got a Banana Cream Pie smoothie with no honey. We each tried a sip of each other’s and they were great! The Reveille smoothie consists of apples, bananas, orange juice, and carrot juice. The Banana Cream Pie smoothie is made from bananas, coconut milk, vanilla, nutmeg, and honey (but obviously ask for ‘no honey’ to keep it vegan). We are both looking forward to coming back here soon.
Just for a heads-up, you’ll have to park in the pay-to-park lot behind Northgate, which is $0.75/hour, but if you go M-F between the hours of 11am and 2pm, you can park for free. They also have free parking on Sundays. Alternatively, you could also parallel park on the streets surrounding it, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to find a spot whenever there’s a lot going on at the various bars. Hope you try this place out soon! If you’ve already tried Northgate Juice Joint before, let me know what you thought of it in the comments below!
